The Cooper Cougars enter the 2012 District 2-5A with a perfect 2-0 record. David Robinett talked to Coach Todd Moebes about his team victory over Cedar Park and the start of district play.

David Robinett said, "Coach Moebes, another exciting one. They're trying to kill you, or they are trying to age you faster than you want. Cooper getting that 17-14 win. Tell me your thoughts about that win."

Todd Moebes said, "It was a huge win against a great opponent. I've got respect for Cedar Park. They do it right. They are well coached, and the kids play the game the right way. It was a hard fought battle especially have to go their place and do it. I couldn't be more proud of our kids the way they remained consistent and kept fighting, and we gave ourselves a chance to win at the end."

David says, "The 1st half, you guys put a couple of scores on the board. The 2nd half, the offense struggled a little bit, but the defense really stood up and made some stands. Talk about the way those guys rebounded from a tough 1st week and played outstanding in the 2nd week."

Coach Moebes said, "I was pleased with how we played defensively.  Cedar Park gave us some new looks, and they had some long runs early in the 1st half, but I thought we did a great job of bowing our neck in the red zone and making them kick field goals rather than getting touchdowns, and they really, kind of, kept us in the game, and in the 2nd half, they came out and played really well."

David says, "Tell me about getting district started so soon. Good, bad, indifferent, or just the hand that has been dealt to you."

Coach Moebes answers, "It's the hand that's been dealt to us.  It's the hand that been dealt Midland Lee and all the other 9 teams in our district. There's nothing we can do about it. Everybody's in the same boat we are. You hope that your 1st 2 non-district games have put in enough situations that you're ready to go in and face a team like Midland Lee, in our case.  It is what it is, and we've got to go out and prepare to play well this week."

Cooper starts district play at home on Friday night against Midland Lee. The Rebels enter the game with a 1 and 1 record. That game is at Shotwell Stadium and starts at 7:30.
