Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Jones County

One person was killed and one injured in a two-vehicle crash in Jones County.

The crash ocurred on  Highway 83 and the intersection of County Road 484 north of Hawley, Texas.

Gerhardt Wesley Sugar, 48, years of age from Hawley, was driving his motorcycle southbound on U.S. Highway 83 when he hit Ramon Yanez-Aguilar, 58, who failed to yeild right-of-way at an intersection as he was driving eastbound on County Road 484, attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 83.

Sugar was not wearing a helmet.

Sugar was taken to Hendrick Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:03 a. m.

Ramon Yanez-Aguilar was taken to Hendrick Medical Center and is listed in Good Condition. 

The weather was clear and the road was dry.  This crash is under investigation by Trooper Gilbert Valdez.
