Esmerelda Bermejo of Vancouver was scheduled to have a c-section at the end of the month. With her doctor's clearance she took a trip over Mount Hood with her family over the weekend. Not expecting that 6 pound Jennifer would come early.
On the way home, Esmerelda began to feel contractions. More than an hour from a hospital they tried to call 9-1-1.
So they drove some thirty minutes to the nearest phone at a gas station.
Fortunately, two surgical technicians happened to be there to help.
"We were out in the middle of nothing, we were in the middle of nothing just that store and they were there because they were putting gas they were going fishing," Esmerelda explains.
Will Sweet and Sean Means rushed Esmerelda into this gas station bathroom. That's when they discovered the baby was breach.
"When I got down on the floor with her to my surprise I saw two little purple blueish legs," Means says.
Before the fire department could even get there- Jennifer was born. And now the families have made lasting connections.
