Locals Come Together to Learn about Dementia

The inaugural "Lewy Body Dementia Walk" not only helped get the word out about the variation of the disease, but let participants ask questions and learn more from a doctor all while enjoying some food, raffles and music.
Event organizers say the goal of the walk was to educate people in the Big Country on what Lewy Body Dementia is, since it's hard to diagnose and is easily confused with other types of the disease.
"So it's very important for people to know what Lewy Body is and to research it," said event co-chair Rachael Valfre. "Because they really need to know that this is out there, and you might have it and you might have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's but you might really have Lewy Body. "
