HSU's Reyes Named ASC MVP

RICHARDSON, Texas  - Hardin-Simmons' Madison Reyes has been named the American Southwest Conference's Volleyball Most Valuable Player for the second straight year in a vote of the conference's head coaches.
 
Reyes led the Cowgirls to their third straight ASC title and she was named the tournament MVP for the second straight year. She led the ASC with 380 kills and averaged 3.25 kills per set. She also had 355 digs 42 blocks and 30 service aces.
 
The Cowgirls coaching staff of Sabrina Bingham and Brent Lewis were named the ASC coaching staff of the year after leading the Cowgirls to a perfect 16-0 record in league play, a 29-3 record overall and a 25-game winning streak.
 
Junior outside hitter Christine Sas joined Reyes on the ASC first-team. She had 323 kills and 405 digs on the year. Junior middle blocker was named to the second team after leading the Cowgirls with  123 blocks and 247 kills.
 
Sophomore setter Molli Owen was named to the third team along with sophomore opposite Morgan Watts. Sophomore opposite Hannah Hornsby and freshman setter Meghan Molitor were named honorable mention selections.
 
Sapphire Reid of Mary Hardin-Baylor was named the newcomer of the year and Kolby Sharp of East Texas Baptist was named the freshman of the year and Dana Hilzendager was named the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
