ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University closed out its 2012 regular season slate of games by scoring a 35-3 exhibition game victory over the University of Mexico on Saturday afternoon at Wilford Moore Stadium.

The War Hawks program also paid tribute to its 13 seniors who were playing on their home turf for the final time.

While the result and statistics are not recognized by the NCAA, it made no difference to the McM effort as the team registered a victory for the fourth-consecutive game. It was also the team's eight winning result in its last nine games.

The War Hawks dominated on both sides of the ball. Another solid defensive effort saw only a third-quarter field goal stand between it and the shutout. The unit registered six sacks, had 11 tackles for loss and two interceptions with balanced contributions. 11 different players had between four and seven tackles, each.

Senior D.J. Baiza, the War Hawks' all-time leader for career punt returns for touchdown, had not one, but two TD returns nullified in the game by illegal blocks.

Meanwhile, McM's Mullin gave the Wilford Moore fans one final showcase QB skills. Mullin was an efficient 21-of-28 passing for 243 yards and four touchdowns.  All told the three War Hawk signal-callers were 33-of-44 for 314 passing yards.

Greg Livingston caught nine balls for 71 yard and senior Joshua Chatman had 92 receiving yards on just three catches. Chatman had two TD catches of 12 and 76 yards as he closed out his home career.

Meanwhile, Chris Simpson capably handled the ground game. Simpson carried 2 time for 105 yards and scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run near the end of the first quarter as McM took a 14-0 lead, which it held until the half.

In the fourth quarter Mullin, hit Billy Cole III on a three-yard strike with 12:29 left to play.  Five minutes later, Mullin connected with fellow senior and Burleson, Texas native Courte Gilbert with a seven-yard strike that gave McMurry the 35-3 advantage as he exited the Wilford Moore Stadium stage.

McMurry out-gained its southern neighbors in total offense by 443 to 245 yards, while also rolling up eight more first downs (25-17).

McMurry will next be in action on Saturday, December 1 when it takes on Southern Arkansas University in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl in Copperas Cove.
