Eastland Back On Field After 2 Weeks Off

By: Alyssa Orange
Updated: November 21, 2012
The Eastland Mavericks start their playoff run on Friday against Muleshoe. But unlike other teams in the post season, the Mavericks are in a unique position where they have had two weeks of instead of just one. Now, it's a situation the Mavericks were in last season. So what did they do? They learned from what they did last season and applied it to this season.

"I think we really got a lot out of it. We tweeted some things. What we didnt think was great for us last year and kind of changed and added and took out, and felt like we had a little practice run with it last year and got some good out of it last year." says Head Coach Brian Hullett.

"We hit the lifts a lot harder, made sure we werent rusty when we came back." adds Clint Gaylean.

"We learned from last year not to take so much time off. and we've also been keeping up, doing competitions and stuff to keep us in the mental state to keep playing." Alejandro Montano.

On top of having the past two weeks off, the Mavericks also think that becuse they have continued to improve every week this season, that will also play to their advantage now that they are in the playoffs.

Muleshoe knocked the Mavericks out of the playoffs last year in the 3rd round. They meet in Snyder on Friday night at 7.
