The McM men's team will also face OCU at 7:30 p.m. that night.
This will be the first-ever meeting between McMurry and Oklahoma Christian in women's basketball.
Oklahoma Christian enters the game after seeing its recent four-game win streak snapped last Saturday in a 73-69 loss to UA-Fort Smith. Katy O'Steen (16.5 p.p.g.) and Roz Hamilton (10.3 p.p.g.) top the Eagles' scoring, while O'Steen leads her team's rebounding (6.2 r.p.g.), as well.
In all, six Eagles average better than 5.0 points per game. OCU averages a healthy 77.2 points per game, thanks largely to the fact that it has converted 34 more three-point baskets (127 to 93) than its opponents.
The Eagles average a larcenous 12.9 steals per game, as well. Three players have amassed more than 20 steals on the year, led by 26 from Krista Stevens.
Conversely, McMurry upended Heartland Conference leader St. Edward's (57-54) in its first game of 2013 last Saturday. Reigning Heartland Conference "Player of the Week" - Keshia Collins - leads McM's offense at 13.3 p.p.g., while also chipping in 6.5 r.p.g. and 3.0 s.p.g.
In last week's games, Collins demonstrated her all-around balance as a player by averaging 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. She also shot an efficient 51.7 percent (15-29) from the field.
In the OT loss the Henderson State, Collins led all scorers with 17 points. In the win over St. Edward's, she had a double-double of 18 points (also topping all scorers in that game) and 10 rebounds. She blocked three shots in each of the War Hawks' games last week.
Senior guard Rikeita Thomas contributes 8.8 p.p.g., but had 13 in the win at St. Edward's. Freshman Claire Bruffey has come off the bench in all 13 contests, with an average of 6.2 p.p.g.
Senior forward Jamie Wilson is at 5.1 p.p.g. and 5.5 r.p.g. for the year. Wilson had a team-high 11 boards at St. Edward's (to go along with her eight points.).
The War Hawks and Eagles have three common foes thus far in 2012-13. Both squads lost to Lubbock Christian (OCU twice) by wide margins. OCU defeated Newman University (73-71) and lost to Arkansas-Fort Smith. Conversely, McMurry had to opposite results back in November, losing at Newman on a last-second basket (62-61) and toppling UAFS (72-69) two days later.
The game can be heard live locally on KZQQ 1560-AM, as well as on the internet via the stations of the War Hawk Radio Network (www.hprnetwork.com). Live video streaming is also available through the War Hawks' web site: www.mcmurrysports.com<http://www.mcmurrysports.com>
