ACU's Lankford Earns Another LSC Honor

By: Melanie Robotham, LSC Assistant Commissioner
Updated: February 18, 2013
Last week's Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, ACU's Lankford was back at it last week, averaging 24.5 points per game as she led the Wildcats to road wins over Midwestern State and Cameron and into first place in the Lone Star Conference with two weeks to go.

In last Wednesday's 85-72 win at Midwestern State, Lankford poured in 33 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field, including 5 of 9 from 3-point range. She scored 20 points in the first half when the Wildcats took control of the contest.

She left the game early in the second half with an ankle injury and ACU's lead dropped to seven points before she re-entered the game. Shortly after she came back into the game she buried back-to-back 3-pointers to push ACU's lead back to 13 points and the Wildcats would not be threatened the rest of the way.

In Saturday's 72-53 win over Cameron, Lankford scored 16 points and had five assists as the Wildcats moved into sole possession of first place in the league standings.
