For anyone currently searching for employment or simply wanting to sharpen job searching skills, the Abilene Public Library will host a free "Hone Your Job Search Skills" workshop the evening of Tuesday, February 19.

The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library's second floor auditorium at 202 Cedar Street.

Ed Allred, workshop facilitator with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas, will cover a wide range of subjects beginning with how to do a skills self evaluation.

Networking, an important part of identifying opportunities, will be covered in some detail followed by how to build an effective resume with cover letter, and then actually search for jobs.

Finally, Allred will explain the importance and mechanics of filling out an application and how to conduct a winning interview.

"While looking for work is challenging," the speaker notes, "remember that there are parts of the job search process that are definitely within one's control."
