Learning To Prevent Teeth Decay From Sodas

Everyone needs to be cautious what is put in your child's mouth, especially soda's.
Different acidity levels from these drinks can cause decay, and since February is National Children's Dental Health month, Abilene Dental stopped by KTAB 4u to discuss ways to prevent teeth erosion.
Tiffany McAdams stopped by KTAB 4u to discuss the importance of keeping parents aware.
Chemical loss of enamel occurs on the type of fluids you drink. Water with a pH level of 7 is considered neutral whereas Coke is 2.4. The lower the level from 7, the higher the acidity level.
"Just to compare, battery acid has a pH level of 1," says McAdams.
In addition, an additive known as xylitol, which Abilene Dental offers helps prevent cavities by reducing the risk of the acid from sodas decaying the enamel of the teeth.
