Frontier Texas is one of the most well known attractions in Abilene. But their main exhibit has been closed so far this year for some major renovation.
Artists, electricians, and construction workers have been hard at work for the past few months installing this 1.9 million dollar upgrade which includes new state of the art technology such as touchscreen panels, new sculptures and even more historical information about the old west.
In addition to the updated indoor museum, an outdoor display of metal running buffaloes on thirty foot tall poles have also been installed and will be lit up each night following their grand opening. But with all these changes involved, many parts of the museum will still look very familiar.
Even gun lovers will appreciate a new permanent gun display, showing off a variety of historic firearms.
The museum's grand re-opening will take place this Saturday, March 2nd starting at 9am, with a flag raising and ribbon cutting ceremony to follow at 10am.
