ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team dropped its American Southwest Conference
West Division opener to Texas Lutheran, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at the
Streich Tennis Center.
It was the final
meeting between the two teams as conference foes with TLU leaving the ASC after
this season. It also marks the first time in the ASC era that TLU has defeated
the Cowgirls.
HSU took a 2-1 lead
after doubles play as Tram Le and Kelci Jackson won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and
Amelia Chaney and Shelby Saul won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
TLU won five of six
singles with Angie Nhan at No. 2 singles the only Cowgirl to post a win.
HSU is now 1-5 on the
year and 0-1 in ASC West action. Texas Lutheran improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0
in league play. HSU is off until March 18 when it heads to California for four
matches.
