We went into the weekend with 7 boys teams still alive in the playoffs. We left the weekend with just the Wylie Bulldogs with a ticket to the State Tournament.

The Bulldogs came from behind to beat Wichita Falls Hirschi to win the Regional Tournament and advance to Austin. It's been a hard fight from November to now, and the Bulldogs are just 2 wins from winning the school's 1st State Title in Boys Basketball.

"Well, about 365 days ago we turned our stuff in today, We got beat that time before and came to school on Monday and turned in our equipment and said goodbye, and how proud I was of them then.  Just the relief and excitement that I got to see on the kids is something I'm going to remember." says Head Coach Russell Perkins.

"Well it's really exciting because there's only been two teams that's ever been to Austin at this school and so it's really exciting. We made it out of a good region playing some tough competition." adds Duane Hopper.

It's doesn't get any easier this week for Wylie. The 5th ranked Bulldogs take on #2 ranked Dallas Madison on Thursday. That game will start at 1:30 at the Frank Erwin Center at UT.
