LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's 2013 season opener against SMU at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas has been moved to Friday, Aug. 30, to accommodate a national television broadcast on ESPN.  Kickoff has been set for 7 p.m. CT.

The game will mark the first of the Kliff Kingsbury era and the second consecutive Texas Tech-SMU game to air nationally on ESPN.

In the last match-up between the two teams, the Red Raiders defeated the Mustangs 35-27 at Jones AT&T Stadium on Sept. 5, 2010.
Texas Tech will be making its first Friday night appearance since a Sept. 27, 2002, match-up at New Mexico where then as quarterback, Kingsbury led the Red Raiders to a 49-0 shutout of the Lobos.
