College Golf: Cowboys Finish Fourth In South Carolina

BEAUFORT, SC - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team moved up from seventh to finish in fourth place at the Taylor made/Adidas Intercollegiate with a solid round of 318 in very tough scoring conditions at the par-72, 6,761-yard Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C.
 
The Cowboys 318 was the fourth best round of the day and moved HSU up to fourth in the 13-team field. Faulkner, a NAIA school, won the event by 28 strokes over second-place Centenary with a 299-304-316--919 total. HSU shot 318-324-318--960.
 
Brandon Heard led the Cowboys with a 75-79-79-233, which was good for a tie for seventh place. Sean Aleman, who led the Cowboys on Tuesday with a 75, finished with a 78-87-75-240 for a 18th-place finish.
 
Tyler Mileger shot 78-78-85-241, Ryan Hughes lowered his score each round and shot 87-80-79-246. Mike Hursh shot 91-90-91-272 for the Cowboys.
 
Zander Winston of Centenary shot 77-73-71-221 to win the medalist race by two strokes.
 
HSU is now off until April 8-9 when the Cowboys play at the Western Regional Invitational at Berry Creek.
