Coming into Wednesday's finale, the Wildcats had lost their previous two games by just one run each. Prior to that the Wildcats won four games straight.
In the first couple of innings it was for the most part a pitchers-duel. Then in the top of the third, Delta State would threaten with runners on first and second base.
Pitcher Ty Taylor would put an end to that threat by getting Ben Kingsley to strike out swinging to end the threat.
Then the ACU bats would come alive in the bottom of the inning. The Wildcats took their first shot at the plate with one out, but Seth Spivey was thrown out at the plate.
Then with two outs the Wildcats woud score three runs. Capped off by a Rikky Slazar blooper into right field, that fell just out of the reach of the Delta State second baseman. That would score Rodge Macy to give ACU a 3-0 lead.
The Wildcats would add another seven runs in the sixth inning, and that would prove to be enough to secure a 10-4 victory.
