Thursday evening at about 7:15, Officer Daniel Henning responded to a burglary call at a residence in the 900 block of Westmoreland Street. APD dispatch was notified by the victim. Officer Henning's preliminary investigation revealed that the victim's home had been burglarized and that the suspect was a known person. The investigation also revealed that the burglary had occurred earlier Thursday afternoon and that money and jewelry valued at over $1,000 was taken. A report for felony burglary of a habitation was taken and this investigation continues.
Thursday night at about 11:35, Officers Clinton Coapland and Cory Valencia responded to a traffic hazard call in the 6200 block of South Clack Street. A concerned citizen had notified APD dispatch about a vehicle with a flat tire and that the vehicle was possibly high-centered. The calling party advised that the driver appeared to be a female. Officer Coapland located the vehicle and observed that the vehicle's engine was still running and that a female occupant was in the driver's seat. Officer Coapland contacted the female subject and he smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The female told Officer Coapland that she had been driving the vehicle and that she had been drinking an alcoholic beverage. The subject displayed indicators of intoxication and refused to perform standard field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where she provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC to be 0.111 and 0.116. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor DWI.
