GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Taniquah Ards hit a layup with 2.6 seconds to play Friday night to beat ACU, 70-68, in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Region women's basketball tournament at Brownson Arena.

The Wildcats finish their final season as an NCAA Division II member at 21-7.  The Falcons, meanwhile, move on to the regional semifinals where they will take on top-seeded Colorado Mesa on Saturday.

Sadie Dickinson had 16 points for the Wildcats, as did Kelsey Smith, who also added 13 rebounds.  Renata Marquez had 13 point and Mackenzie Lankford 11 for the Wildcats.

ACU tied the game at 68-68 with seven seconds to play on a Kynzie Newman 3-pointer.  But UTPB all-region guard Teisha King collected the inbounds pass and drove the length of the floor and dished off to Ards, who converted a layup to give the Falcons a 70-68 lead.

Ards missed the free throw, but UTPB was able to retain possession and run out the clock on the Wildcats' season.
