"Definitely not used to it. That's the first time I can remember, as long I've lived here, something that happened. Especially that close to home," said Bryce Wilkins.

Wilkins has lived in Ira for most of his life. And  the news of a body found near the lake where he used to go all the time as a kid has him and the community uneasy.

"Usually we keep our doors unlocked our here," he explained. "Cause it's a small, small community so we don't think about things like that happening. Looking at it from a different perspective now, definitely security. Locking your doors, take your keys in out of your car."

But his biggest concern is his kids.

"We know most of the people here, so it's like a community taking care of each other type of thing out here. So for the most part we think they're okay but you do add that extra caution when you hear about something like this being right down the road," Wilkins said.

Wilkins says he doesn't think the remains belong to anyone from the community. And said the only case of someone gone missing is the one that happened 20 miles away.

"Well there was that little girl that went missing from Colorado City. That's really it," he said. "Cause being that it is so small, something like that happens, everybody hears about it. And that's really the only thing that we've heard of."

But the discovery of those remains leaves many questions unanswered.

"That's really the main thing. Who is it? Is it a local person? Or is it somebody from out of town? Somebody passing through and thought J.B.Thomas was a good place to try to hide something?" Wilkins explained.

Wilkins said that the community has come together, and that they're all supporting one another as they eagerly await the news that the body has been identified.
