AAA: Fewer Texans Traveling

By: Chris Whited, KRBC News
Updated: December 23, 2008
You might notice fewer cars on the roads and not so long lines at the airports in Texas as fewer people are expected to travel for Christmas.  Analysts with AAA Texas predict the number of Texans traveling for the Christmas and New Years holiday periods will be down this year as compared to last year.

5.1-million residents of the state are expected to travel for the holiday period, which is down about 2-percent from last year. Despite lower gasoline prices, analysts say the economy is the main factor keeping people closer to home.

If you are planing to travel, you can check road conditions in the state of Texas anytime by calling toll free at 1-800-542-9292 or visit the TxDOT Road Conditons website on the internet.
