When economies are bad, those in need are much worse. One local non-profit is lending a hand that extends far beyond the Big Country.Global Samaritan Resources provide goods for people in need all across the world. Now the Abilene branch is starting a new project to bring aid to civilians in Afghanistan. Goods will be sent to soldiers who will distribute the items to people in need.
Ed Enzor of Global Samaritan in Abilene says, "Many people have lost their limbs because of various combat actions, and they just have nothing that they can use. So, the military people in Afghanistan have asked that we collect as many crutches and non-electric wheel chairs, and also walkers."
Enzor invites everyone to help out. They accept hard, practical goods. Items can be dropped off during normal business hours.
To give a donation, go to the Global Samaritan building at 2074 N. 1st St. in Abilene.
