Circuit City filed for bankruptcy back in November and hoped that a financial solution could be found to save its remaining 567 stores nationwide. After months of searching for a financial solution, Circuit City announced Friday that all of its remaining stores will close, leaving over 34,000 employees job-less. Including roughly 40 of whom work here in Abilene.

Although, the closing didn't surprise too many customers, here in Abilene.

"I just kind of like to look at the merchandise every once in a while," admits Allan Isom. He says that he knew that Circuit City was on the verge of closing, and he that's why he's making one more run to the store to cash in on his gift card.

"I had to get rid of my gift card that I had. I didn't know how long they were going to stay open."

Isom says he's not shocked about the store closing, and that the closing won't bother him at all. Instead, he'll just shop elsewhere.

"It's not going to bother me too much. I'll just shop at Best Buy or online."

With the store closing many shoppers are out spying on any door-closing sales.

"I just went to see if they had any cheap deals," says James Jones. He adds that he's not surprised to see the store closing, it's just another store to go.

Circuit City says that all of it's merchandise will be liquidated starting Saturday, and customers with gift cards will be able to use them until the store closes. After that the cards will have no value.
