Carol Footer is a 9th grade Algebra 1 teacher at Cooper High School.

She says she enjoys watching her students learn something new in her class.

"I think I learn as much as they do, day in and day out. Maybe not so much the content but about life in general and I think we can all learn from each other."

Footer makes sure her students are doing their homework and If you haven't done your homework, she will find you during your lunch hours.

She calls it Lunch Buddies. She will spend her lunch time and her student's lunch working over assignment, homework, and test scores to make sure they get it done.

She says that at the high school level, she understands that students are busy or even in some cases the student doesn't get the support at home to do their homework. She gives them the opportunity during lunch instead of having to fail them for that assignment. Footer says that now students even go up to her and ask her to do Lunch Buddies.

Meanwhile some of her students say her class is easy but not because of the material but it's all in the way she teaches.

"I think she is pretty nice, she is a good teacher. She explains it well, unlike other teachers she explains it more vivid,"said Therese Bayaton, 9th grade student at Cooper High School.

A teacher who spends her lunch with students to make sure they are up to date on their homework... deserves to be our Elite Educator of the week.

Congratulations, Carol Footer!
