Helicopter Battles Abilene Wildfire

A fast-moving fire sparked along I-20 in Abilene late Sunday afternoon threatening a number of homes including a motel. A number of firefighters battled the flames which came within 100 yards of the Motel 6. Authorities say the fire threatening that business, 30 mobile homes, the KOA Campground, and five warehouses.
According to a press release, five of Abilene's eight fire station responded to the fire. The Texas Forest Service sent 2 bulldozers, an air attack airplane (eyes in the sky) and a heavy helicopter.
