Another grassfire meant more smoke in Jones County this afternoon.

Volunteer fire departments from Jones and Taylor Counties were called to a fire near the Pride Refinery on Highway 277 between Abilene and Hawley.

The Texas Forest Service also provided bulldozers and a helicopter to slow down and stop the flames.

The first calls of smoke on the horizon started around 3:45 pm. Some fire units didn't leave the scene until well after dark.
