The stomach bug continues to bite, and it is being spread throughout some A.I.S.D. schools.
Several schools around the district that reported seeing some cases of the stomach virus. A.I.S.D officials say Madison Middle school is seeing numerous kids with the bug. According to those officials, Madison reported 25 to 30 kids that were sent home from school this week and said that is largely due to a stomach virus. That report was made Thursday morning and does not include Thursday's statistics or the kids who stayed home altogether.
We spoke to several students from Madison Middle School, and a couple, and most of them say it seems like more kids are being sent home from school than usual.
Thursday afternoon, other administrators reported that there was not a stomach virus outbreak. Madison administrators say they are concerned that knowledge of a virus will give students an excuse to stay home from school.
After contacting school district officials again, however, they confirmed that numerous kids have been sent home from Madison, saying a stomach virus has much to do with it.
Jackson Elementary reported sending several students home with the bug.
Not every school is being bitten by the stomach virus. Clack Middle School reported only a couple cases, and Mann middle School reported seeing the bug back in November.
