The Abilene unemployment rate is significantly lower than the national average.

The preliminary unemployment in the Abilene job market in January was 4.4 percent.

That more than 3 percent lower than the national average.

The Texas January unemployment rate was 6.0 percent.

The increasing national unemployment rate is one of the biggest concerns in the current economic recession, with the national unemployment rate for January at 7.6 percent.
