Strong To Severe Storms Possible Sunday Night

At 8:50pm a line of thunderstorms across West Texas stretching from Lubbock south through Odessa and Midland and further south. This line of storms have reached severe levels and will continue moving eastward through the night. The will move east to west across the Big Country and should be in the Abilene area after midnight.  A Fire Weather Watch is also in effect for the entire Big Country for Tuesday afternoon as another strong storm system will move across the region.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS.

DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT STRONG SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH WILL CAUSE ROUGH AND CHOPPY WATERS ON AREA LAKES THIS AFTERNOON. A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS EXPECTED TO PUSH ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS TONIGHT...AS A STRONG UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM APPROACHES THE AREA. THESE STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS WEST TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON...AND PUSH INTO WEST CENTRAL TEXAS DURING THE LATE EVENING AND EARLY MORNING TIME PERIOD. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY BRIEFLY REACH SEVERE LEVELS...MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF A HASKELL TO SWEETWATER TO SAN ANGELO LINE. DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE WEATHER THREAT.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

A SECOND STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND DRYLINE WILL ENTER THE REGION FROM THE WEST ON TUESDAY. THIS WILL BRING A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS TO EASTERN SECTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON. IN ADDITION...STRONG WEST WINDS WILL FOLLOW THIS SYSTEM BEHIND THE DRYLINE. HAZARDOUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY MAINLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 20 CORRIDOR. SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE REQUESTED ACROSS THE WESTERN BIG COUNTRY AND THE WESTERN CONCHO VALLEY SUNDAY EVENING.
