Aches and pains can really slow down senior citizens...Which is why local experts are trying to do something to help.
Living with aches and pains can be bothersome, especially for senior citizens. Local experts are informing seniors how to live pain free.
Dr. Walls from Hendrick said, "Things that I think tend to aggravate the muscles and joints are things that require a lot of force, a lot of repetition..."
While doctors know best..there are things seniors can do at home to ease the pain, like using heat, ice, splints and stretches.
Walls said seniors can avoid hand and arm pain by, "...using larger joints when you can, such as (carrying) a purse not in your hand but wearing it on your shoulder. If you're going to open a jar, don't use your hand but some type of jar opener. Some types of adaptive equipment [are good] as well."
In next week's senior spotlight, a 93 year old local children book author now has children reading her books for her. Gladys Hume talks about life, art, and what she hopes to leave behind.
