According to an article posted on Sports Illustrated's website, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids during his MVP season of 2003.The article says that Rodriguez's name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in a 2003 baseball survey.
Rodriguez, who played for the Texas Rangers in 2003 before being traded to the New York Yankees a year later, declined to discuss the tests after being confronted by a reporter for Sports Illustrated Thursday in Miami.
Since 1991, Major League Baseball has prohibited the use of steroids without a valid prescription, however there were no penalties in place for a positive test back in 2003.
