Howard Payne Receives Presidential Award for Service

Howard Payne University is one of only six Universities in the nation that received a Federal service award for 2008.
The President’s Community Service Honor Roll is an award presented to Colleges and Universities who strive to be both innovative and effective with community service and service learning programs.
Brownwood's Howard Payne University has been named to the honor roll for three years running.
This year, Howard Payne received the highest level of recognition, the Presidential Award, for 2008.
During the 2007-08 school year, Howard Payne students participated in a total of 14,773 hours of community service.
Howard Payne also offers a variety of programs allowing students to expand learning beyond the classroom and reach out to the community.
These programs include: academic internships, mission trips, special service days, and cooperating with programs such as Head Start and the Boy's and Girl's Club.
20 Texas Universities were honored as Honor Roll Members, including Abilene's own Abilene Christian University.
