2009 Fur Ball Features 'Old West' Theme

By: Pete Koehn
Updated: February 10, 2009
The Fur Ball is Abilene's only dinner and dance for people and their dogs.

The event will be held on February 21 at the Abilene Civic Center in celebration of Rescue the Animals' 10th anniversary. Since the programs start in 1999, over 10,000 cats and dogs have been placed in new homes.

Dinner will be prepared by chef Tom Perini of Buffalo Gap and Cookies By Design will feature a gourmet 'doggie buffet,' complete with chuck wagon.

The Jim Ned High School Jazz Ensemble will play during the dance, and everyone will be invited to participate in the dance and costume contests. This year's theme is 'the Old West.'

Tickets are on sale now, $30 for adults and $15 for kids, until February 18th and can be purchased at Village Boutique, 3194 S. 27th; Rescue the Animals, SPCA, 5933 S. 1st; or by calling (325) 672-4456.
