McMurry Professor Documents Abilene's History

 Abilene has had a rich history since its founding in 1881, and one Abilenian has documented that heritage in a two-volume book series.

Dr. Rob Sledge, serves both as McMurry University's professor emeritus of history, and Resident Historian at the Grady McWhiney Research Foundation.

The Book is titled, A People, A Place: The Story of Abilene.

The first volume will recount the events between the establishment of Abilene and WWII.

The second volume, slated for release in 2010, will cover 1940 to the present day.

Texas Star Trading Company, located at 174 Cypress Street, will be hosting a book signing with Dr. Sledge, from 6 to 7:30p.m. on Thursday February 12th.

Another signing will take place on Saturday, February 14th from 1p.m. to 3 p.m.
