According to the 2008 Crime Stats, over 1,200 cases of burglary were filed in Abilene, in which over $1.5 million of property was taken.

Already Travis Simon, and his roommates, are becoming the statistics for 2009's Crime Stats.

At the start of this week, Travis's roommate found their house had been broken into and burglarized.
"They went through everyone's room," says Travis,"I guess they might've been looking for something."

He explains that the person who broke in came in through the back door and took a TV, lap tops and a Play Station 3, that Travis just got. "I actually said something, made a little smart comment, about 'I hope no one steals my PS3,' cause I had just bought it."

As he and his roommates begin to move on, he admits he feels victimized, and he just hopes that justice is served. "I'm trying to keep a good attitude about it, not trying to be mad the whole time. You know, hopefully these people get caught and get what they deserve."
