Every spring a job fair brings future employers to Abilene to meet students about to enter the work
force every year, that is, except for this year.

James Greer, McMurry Counseling and Career Services, says that everyone is being careful about hiring this year and so very few companies wanted to take the trouble to come to Abilene right now.

He also says that this isn't a reason for students to give up hope, but instead to get creative.

"They can't depend on the jobs coming to them, they need to get their resumes together, do an internship and go and meet with people face to face."

If a student needs help with getting their resume together their local career service center will help them with that and with meeting alumni with connections into the field the student is wanting to go into.
