House Expected to Pass Stimulus Today

The House is debating final passage of the massive economic stimulus bill.  A vote could come by midday.  If that happens, it would be up to the Senate to pass the measure and send it on to the President for his signature. The measure carries a $789 billion price tag.

Supporters say it focuses on jobs creation and middle class tax relief.  Opponents say it was thrown together hastily and is filled with wasteful spending that won't boost the sagging economy.

Both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Leader Harry Reid are optimistic about final passage.
