Pawn Shops Cash in on Valentine's Day

By: Megan Dobbs

February has been a good month for local pawn shops.   Several report seeing more shoppers and making more sales.

Though Valentine's Day has much to do with the rise in shoppers, pawn shop owners say tax season is what puts more cash in consumers' pockets, allowing them to spend more money.

Valentine's Day brought many shoppers to local pawn shops looking for one thing in particular--jewelry.

Chris Fox at Wild Bill's Pawn said, "During Christmas, everything sells...but for Valentine's, it's mainly jewelry that everyone's buying for their loved ones."

Some Abilene pawn shops reported a rise in people pawning used goods for money.
