Writing books is what she loved to do, and for Gladys Hume, it was children literature that captivated her most.
"Mostly because I like children. I feel like they enjoy them more than the others," Hume said.
The 93 year old now lives at Mesa Springs retirement home in Abilene, where children now come to read Hume's books to her.
After one boy read one of them to her, Hume responded, "It was really good having him tell me, really, because he puts expression into it." .
Hume not only had a passion for literature but a love for painting.
"I don't know what did it. My parents gave me art. It was something to do...I like [to paint] natural things."
Some of Gladys Hume's work can be found at the Abilene Public Library.
