The National Weather Service in San Angelo will conduct their annual SKYWARN Storm Spotter Program that includes advanced spotter training this Saturday (February 21) in Abilene. The class will be held on the campus of Abilene Christian University in the Hart Auditorium. The auditorium is located in the Onstead-Parker Bible Studies Building on the ACU campus. The class will begin at 9:00 AM and will last into the early afternoon. For more information, you can contact the NWS at (325) 944-9445.

SKYWARN™ is a concept developed in the early 1970s that was intended to promote a cooperative effort between the National Weather Service and communities. The emphasis of the effort is often focused on the storm spotter, an individual who takes a position near their community and reports wind gusts, hail size, rainfall, and cloud formations that could signal a developing tornado. Another part of SKYWARN™ is the receipt and effective distribution of National Weather Service information.
