Warnings Concerning Falling Debris

By: Brandi Fordyce
Updated: February 17, 2009
The Department of Public Safety Headquarters in Austin sent out an advisory to law enforcement and other first responders today stating that "numerous unconfirmed reports" of fallen debris have been reported in Central, North and Northeast Texas.

The advisory urged local authorities to forward such reports to the State Operations Center, who in-turn will activate their response team comprised of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Military Forces (TMF) 6th Civil Support Team.

This response team will go to the debris location and safely remove it.

The public is cautioned to not touch any such objects or breathe in any gases which might be coming from them, and to not walk in any liquids which might be leaking from the debris.

They should remain a safe distance from the debris, and contact local law enforcement. No reports of fallen debris have been reported to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, as of this date and time.
