Courthouse Addition

By: Manny Diaz
Updated: February 17, 2009

A new addition to the Taylor County Courthouse is expected in the near future for prisoner delivery into the courthouse.

Today the County Commissioners approved the addition of a double door sally port.

The port is useful once a vehicle is admitted into the port.

Once the vehicle is enclosed in the sally port the doors will immediately close for the vehicle and prisoner to be inspected.

But due to the addition of the port renovations to the courthouse were cut.

The construction of the sally port is expected to start within the next six months.

The county has not completely turned away the possibility of renovating the courthouse, but at this point is considering the tax payers best interest.
