Updated: February 19, 2009
A median cable guard rail may have saved lives near Baird this morning.

A truck driver heading west-bound in Interstate 20 fell asleep at the wheel.

The truck rolled over and skidded into the cable.

It happened between Baird and Putnam this morning.

The driver says the cable may have saved his life and the lives of other people on the interstate highway.

The truck driver had driven from Los Angeles and was heading home to Fort Worth.
