The proposed construction of a coal plant in Nolan County by Tenaska Trailblazer Energy Company is an issue that has a lot of West Texans talking.

The Tenaska plant will be the subject of a public meeting at the Sweetwater City Auditorium on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 pm, hosted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Those in favor of the plant cite the economic benefits that will be gained from the plant.

Some opponents maintain the plant will cause an increase in train traffic through Abilene that will cause congestion along North and South first streets.

Tenaska officials say the affect on train traffic in Abilene will be minimal.
