Reviews of Indianapolis as the host of this year's Super Bowl have been good.

Much of the credit goes to the thousands of volunteers like Troy Fears, the Executive Director of the local United Way.   He is one of the 8,000 volunteers working this week at the Super Bowl.

When Indy was picked nearly four years ago to host the game, the state office of the United Way reached out to it's members for volunteers.  That's when Troy signed up and was selected about 18 months ago.

Troy says, "Gradually, as the process has gone forward, actually I had to send in my resume, go through FBI clearance, it was a very detailed process just to volunteer."

He's gone to orientation and has received a bunch of stuff, mostly to wear over the weekend, including a special scarf, one of 10,000 knitted for volunteers like Troy.  The one he picked out turned out to be special.

Troy says, "A lady from Michigan City, I believe, is 82 years old and I found out that she was recently highlighted in the paper where she had actually knitted over 250 scarves the last few years and so, I plan to take a picture with me wearing the scarf and sending her a big thank you car after the Super Bowl's over."

Where will Troy volunteer?  Friday he is an usher at an NFL Alumni Dinner at the Convention Center.  Sunday he will be at a hospitality area inside Lucas Oil Stadium but not where he can see the game.

Troy says, "Where NFL alumni, dignitaries are going to be and we are going to be there and point them in the right direction.  Knowing my luck, they'll have me cleaning bathroom, or something, I don't know.

Even that job would STILL be at the Super Bowl.
