School was a little different today at Cross Plains High School. Today they found that several areas of the school had been broken into and burglarized. According to the Superintendant, the cafeteria, band hall, maintainence building, three offices and the concessions area of the gym, and a portable classroom building were all broken into. The Superintendant adds that much of the property was recovered later the same day. Cross Plains Police Department was not available to confirm any arrests by the news hour.
Another hot topic in Cross Plains, was at tonight's school board meeting about a sex survey passed out at the school. Many parents expressed shock at tonight's school board meeting that the controversial topic in the school was not discussed.
Last month a survey polled students 7th grade through 12th on the subject of sex, and it asked some in depth and personal questions that, according to some parents, was not intended for classroom purposes. Some parents were upset because they never received the letter sent by the school seeking permission. What's more is that the letter was only supposed to be returned if the parent did not wish the student to participate.
"It's not even on the agenda," exclaims Judy Luter, who was attending the meeting. "It's really amazing that something that has been this controversial in the town, that they would not even discuss it! They said they were going to have a committee look into it, why haven't they done something about it, tonight? Why aren't they discussing it? They're obviously not taking any action on it."
While there were many other issues brought up in tonights meeting that left many of the parents upset, but this particular subject was diffenantly a hot-button topic.
