A mother was injured in an early morning house fire in South Abilene, but the Children managed to escape unharmed.

The fire broke out just after 4 AM on Sunday on the 50-block of Queen Ann's Lace.

Firefighters, police, and ambulance all responded to the scene.

The mother suffered from minor injuries after the family smashed a window during their escape.
"They had broken out some glass to get out of the house," says Lieutenant Greg Goettsch, of the Abilene Fire Department, "and the parent cut her hand on this as she tried to escape the house."

The fire was contained in the kitchen, but other parts of the house suffered heat and smoke damage.
