Coleman Grass Fire Threatens Log Cabin

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: February 26, 2009
Neighbors and firefighters alike worked non-stop to keep flames from reaching a large log cabin roughly six miles south of Coleman.

Kim Horne, who was on the scene, said people kept throwing buckets full of water around the home of Roy and Kay Poage, as the flames crept toward it.

A barn behind the home was also saved.

The fire started along the west side of County Road 503, jumped to the east side, and spread to the southeast.

The fire was still burning as of 5 p.m. but was under control.
