Big Country Faces Five Fires

Taylor County--Rhodes Ranch Fire--At 2:36 p.m. TFS resources were recalled to this fire located at N32 17.063 x W100 2.804.. Fire has rekindled and made a strong run to the east. It is currently estimated to be 1,200 acres. TFS resources responding include an Air Attack, 2 Helitankers, 2 Strike Teams of dozers, another dozer and engine, 4 SEATS, an Air Attack and lead plane and overhead. Twelve outbuildings are threatened with no losses at this time. Evacuations are in progress. Ash is reported to be falling in Abilene. Eleven VFD's, Taylor County, Dyess AFB, the American Red Cross are working on this fire along with TFS resources. and 85% contained. 101 homes and 9 outbuildings were threatened. One home was lost, two homes damaged, and nine outbuildings were lost. 18 residences were evacuated.

Shackleford County--Nail Ranch Complex#1--The complex consists of 6 fires on the Nails Ranch and is located at N32 46.99 W99 21.91 approximately 5.5 miles NW of Albany. The fires are estimated to be 300 acres and very active. No immediate structures threatened. TFS resources responding include an Air Attack and 2 Strike Teams of dozers.

Callahan County--Clyde Fire--The fire is located at N32 24.642 W99 33.703 approximately four miles west of Clyde. The fire is currently 700 acres in size and 85% contained. 101 homes and 9 outbuildings were threatened. One home was lost, two homes damaged, and nine outbuildings were lost. 18 residences were evacuated.

Runnels County--Ballinger Fire--No TFS resources were on this fire today. The fire is located at N31 48 W 99 53.3 approximately 5 miles NE of Ballinger. The fire is 500 acres and 85% contained. One home and 4 outbuildings were threatened; none lost.
