17 volunteer fire departments joined together to fight the Rhodes Ranch fire in southern Taylor County.

The fire fighters worked throughout the night, many without a break, before the fire was contained enough to allow residents to come home.

Early this morning, residents from the Coronado Camp area were allowed to return home, and as they thanked the fire fighters who saved their homes, many were moved to tears.

But, it wasn't just the residents who had trouble keeping tears in check.

After over 18 hours of fighting the flames, the volunteer fire fighters were finally able to take a breath and grab a bite to eat.

After being evacuated, Gary Young and his wife, who had been evacuated the night before, watched the fire anxiously not knowing what they would return too.

17 volunteer fire departments worked together to battle the flames and because of their courageous efforts, not a single home was lost.
